It was 62 years ago today that the union that formed a family of five began. In those days, arranged marriages were the norm and my parents marriage was no different. My parents met on their wedding day. And that’s when their story began.
I have heard stories about my parents’ marriage likened to a high society, aristocratic affair and it sure looked like that from the photos too. My parents looked regal.

Within several years following their marriage, they moved a lot – within Lahore, to England, back to Lahore, to Karachi and then to the US. The moves continued, but the move to the US was by far the biggest – with three young kids, a few suitcases and a whole lot of faith.
They established a respectable life. My dad a Civil / Structural Engineer and my mother a homemaker. The walls didn’t make the places we lived, she did.
What dreams did they have when they came to the US for themselves, for their children, for their grandchildren (did they think that far?) and on? I don’t know. I wish I had asked.
Today, they have been in my thoughts non-stop. There aren’t days that pass that I don’t think about them or pray from them, but certain dates are tied to so many memories. Today is one of them.
Happy Anniversary, Mom and Daddy! I love you and miss you both.
If you have made it to this post / page, I would be most appreciative if you could say a prayer for my beloved parents. Thank you.
